Congratulations! You’ve decided to commit to each other and to make it public. Your wedding day is a special celebration of the love that you share and a chance to express this in front of your family and friends.

Your ceremony is the key to setting the tone for the whole day. It might be informal or formal, simple, traditional, creative, wacky and fun- you name it, virtually anything is possible!

There are just a couple of legal pieces that you have to include- the rest can be up to you.

A celebrant’s role is to work with you, using your ideas, or helping with some input, to create the special ceremony that fits exactly for you both.

You may have some important aspects that you would either like to have or definitely NOT have, and together we develop something totally personal for your day.

To start with, you might want to think about:

  1. Your vows and whether you want to write something totally unique to say to each other. Or you can use my resources and adapt them to suit you.
  2. Including other people in the ceremony- children, family members, close friends, members of the wedding party- they can all have their special roles or tasks. It can be especially fun and important to give children a part in the ceremony which they will remember forever.
  3. Any music or readings that mean a lot to you both.
  4. Capturing your special relationship in some way- what is your story, why you are getting married, what you mean to each other. Once we've had an initial meeting- at your place, Winnie’s, or somewhere in between, or on Zoom, Winnie will draft up the outline of what we've discussed and then meet again at least once to finalise the ideas.

A rehearsal of the key aspects of the ceremony is a good idea, if possible, preferably at the venue if it’s available a day or two before the wedding day. This gives a chance for everyone with a significant part to 'walk through' what they'll be doing so that everything runs smoothly.

On the day, Winnie arrives well ahead of time, ensures everything is 'ready to go' and makes sure your guests are welcomed.

Then we have just the best ceremony for you both, filled with love and laughter, and you begin married life!

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.
